The day of the inauguration I felt sick to my stomach. I even cried. I felt like I needed to do something and be around other like minded people. So my friend Tally and I drove down to the Women's March. I made this poster late the night before because these words spoke to me. We drove to the march and talked about our political beliefs and how during this election and aftermath we have felt alone. The second the opened the car doors, we knew that we were not. We heard them before we saw them. Thousands of men, women and children. It was not a negative protest. It was a filled with so much love and positivity and hope. When the walk started everyone started chanting the words on my poster "love not hate, makes America great" It was so moving. I felt so much better about our city, state, community and country. Black, white, brown, gay, straight we all marched together and clapped an cheered for each other. We shared stories and our feelings with one another. Being an American means standing up for what you believe in. Standing up for other when you think they are wronged. Standing up and shouting from the rooftops that hate has no place in your country.
