When it rains, it pours.....in our house

after we got home from our trip to Pinetop there was a microburst and the wind was 75 mph. It ripped off part of our roof and then the water came in our dining room, closet and bedroom. Sadly a second storm came a few days ago and more water came in the dining room. Insurance is being SLOW but hopefully it will be fixed soon because Fran and I are not sleeping in the living room.

Baby Hummingbirds

We had a little hummingbird nest in our tree with two little eggs. They look exactly like white tic tacs & today I peeked in there & saw this:

When we first moved into our home the bricks were orange, the stucco beige & the trim turquoise...YUCK! A few years ago we painted the trim.
We finally decided to finish the rest. First Francis put slate down in our front walkway.
Then I painted the brick & stucco
We liked the slate so much that we decided to cut it brick size and cover the brick pilars by the garage door.
Next up is adding stone to the orange brick by the far right window, getting new gravel & planting the winter lawn.

Since the outside is getting all spiffy I decided to do a project inside on our computer desk. Here is the before....
 and now the after.
I also turned this little mess                                                      into this
I got the idea off of Pinterest. All it took was 4 paint mixing sticks, wood stain some old house numbers that I spray painted silver & a glue gun.

Valentine's Day 2012

This first picture is of our master bathroom....Francis took all the gross tile out and painted the back wall Behr's Latte. The other walls & the ceiling are white. Next we'll be adding beadboard, marble trim, marble tile & new baseboard. It's going to be fabulous & it's my Valentine's Day present! I am not a romantic gal so this is the perfect gift! Francis came home from work and worked in the bathroom until it was dark. Love this guy!
The kids woke up to balloons and a gift (just some toys from the $$$ store but they were happy)
I made heart shaped cinnamon rolls with pink frosting for breakfast.
Then it was time for me to volunteer in Kali's classroom. After that I came home, got stuff ready for her class party and headed back over to the school.
It was a fun, easy party since the kids mostly ate the candy from their Valentine's and read their cards. Kai and Francis were able to come so it was really special for Kali.
Then my gift to Francis was his favorites for dinner. We had chicken lettuce wraps (PF Chang recipe) and a chocolate chocolate chip bundt cake with fresh whipped cream for dessert. The kids had their favorites, chow mein & rice & strawberries. It was a perfect day.

Like Daddy Does

Since Mr. Becker has been hard at work installing marble in our bedroom the kids wanted to be like Daddy.
We went to Home Depot and the kids picked out tile and carpet samples for the Barbie house & knight castle.
I love seeing these two be so creative.

Kali's room re-do

Since we've got this little bean coming in July 2012

Kali & Kai will be sharing a room. Luckily Kali's room is actually 2 rooms made into one SUPER room so they will have plenty of space.

So we're saying goodbye to the fairy, the pink walls and the GROSS carpet. After this we will only have carpet in one room in our house & I am so glad because it's awful to keep clean with a dog & kids.

First we took everything off the wall & took the curtains down.

Francis painted the walls white (the entire room will be white because we figure when we want to sell the house that would be best)

Here is my hot painter/carpet remover/pergo installer. He works for free :)

All of Kali's stuff taking over the dining room. There is also some in our room & Kai 's room. This girl has WAY too much stuff!

Fran only had to tape off the windows because we even have to paint the ceiling.

Then the carpet came out. And the GROSS padding. He also tore out the baseboard. Francis is scrapping the floor as I am writing this and then he'll finish painting and tomorrow it will be on to the Pergo padding & the actual Pergo.

It's going to be a busy but carpet free New Year!!

Laundry Room Re-do part 3

Today Francis put the cabinet doors back on. He added bead board, painted them white and spray painted the hinges and handles.

We also had to replace the knobs for the washer which was nothing fun or exciting. Hopefully we'll be putting the washer & dryer back in tomorrow.

Today he installed the molding

Laundry Room Re-do part 1

laundry room before

the color on the wall is a dusty gray blue

and the tile is a white ceramic that is YUCK

I painted the cabinets white (Francis will be finishing the doors with beadboard and new knobs)

The walls are Glidden Cafe Latte.

Francis tore the tile out, scrapped the floor and removed the tile edging.

and we picked out a slate tile with gray grout

Today Francis will finish tiling and grouting when he gets home from work. Then tomorrow he will install the molding and we'll move the washer/dryer back in (thank goodness because I've got laundry to do) and then we'll finish the cabinets.
