Get er' done

I cannot believe I just titled my post that?! But....we have been getting some things done around here. We learned about recycling this week & how the rain forest is affected by it. The kids made crafts out of some toilet paper rolls (binoculars) and Kali found some old ribbon holders & colored them. (no pic)
We also learned about sea horses (Kali's request)
Mr. Becker rearranged our photo wall, hung the tv and took the legs off our armoire so it's now a table under the tv. He sure was handy this week!

This opened up in our garden this week

and I made these cute little fourth of July decorations from House of 3
you just print up the middle pieces and use whatever paper you have to finish them off.
Thanks to my cute cousin Rosemary for showing me the site.
Mr. Becker has a 4 day weekend! I am so excited to have him home....except his allergy doctor just told him he is severely allergic to grass & should not be doing yard work?! WHAT the HECK!

Character

When Kai watches a movie he likes to get into character. When he watches Bob The Builder he is dressed in his tool belt with tools.
When he watches Hercules he is wearing a cape & sword....
and for The Princess and the Frog today he wore this.....
He is such a little character ;)

The longest day....

Saturday started out with the kids having a make up swim class since it was cancelled one day this week due to a POOP! Yes, a poop in the pool--YUCK!

luckily Daddy got to come with us

we came home, ate lunch and then Kali had ballet (look at the cute tutu my mom made)

I brought Kali home and went to the gym while Mr. Becker and the kids jumped on the trampoline with the sprinkler--fun!

We were so hungry and I was WAY too tired to cook so off to Flamingo Palace we went!
If you have never been there--GO! and do yourself a favor and order Sizzling rice soup.
Then the kids went to play at Yaya's and Mr. Becker and I went to Target.
By the time we were home.....we were exhausted.
The kids on the other hand were WILD!
Shesh!
Oh and for home school the end of the week we learned about China and made a little Chinese flag, and bees so we made a bumble bee out of foamboard.

To infinity and beyond!!

Look at these two sweet, innocent little angels....
yeah right!

they fight at least 5 times a day over the silliest little things & someone always ends up crying...they constantly ask for their cups to be filled with apple juice and for snacks and to go swimming and to watch a movie and to go to Yaya's house and for another pair of water goggles....and Kali NEVER stops talking...oh and Kai goes to the bathroom more than anyone I've ever known!
But everyday when I sit them down to do summer school they are so sweet & excited about learning. Today we read about volcanoes and made one of our own in the sandbox with 1 T of baking soda and 1/4 cup of vinegar. They loved it!
and they can't wait to go to the library "in the city" as they call downtown to go get more books.
I love my crazy little kids!
I love them to infinity and beyond!

Little orchard

We started today learning about Japan and making hanging Japanese fish.
Kali and Kai helped Mr. Becker dig a hole for our new plum tree.
Our dream is for our yard to be full of trees....like our own little Becker orchard!
How awesome will it be to have plums and peaches growing in our yard?! I hope they produce as much as our lemon tree does.

planting the tree

and patting down the dirt
Kali and Kai were so excited to help Daddy plant the tree and fix our sprinklers. Aren't they lucky to have such a good daddy to teach them? Happy Father's Day Francis, you're the best Dad any kid could ask for :)

Today we planted our new peach tree...Kai did most of the labor

with his new shovel
and went to see the new Toy Story
it was the sweetest little movie
the kids really liked it and I shed a few tears
I love it when Mr. Becker has Friday off!

Summer school day 3 & 4

Look what I found the other day! Our wedding invitation.....awwwwww
For summer school days 3 & 4 we learned about the life cycle of a butterfly and read books from the library about them.
We made caterpillars out of egg cartons, paint, eyeballs & pipe cleaners

and the next day we made the butterflies out of coffee filters, watercolors and pipecleaners

Summer School

Kai is over 30pds now so he got to get his "big boy" car seat. He has been wanting this for a while because he wanted little cup/snack holders like Kali has, you know, the really important things in life :) Here he is on his way to swim class. They were both so excited to start swim again! Daddy got to come the first day and for some reason having Daddy there made Kai act like a tiny tyrant. Luckily he was fine the next day.....weird.

Kali, of course, was such a good girl & loves to swim and meet friends. She also starts "Big girl ballet" this week, it's the class for 5-6 year old & she can't wait!
Kai started his Parent/Tot sports class & let's just say if there is an award for biggest brat, Kai might be the winner. He was SOOOO horrible but when we got home he fell asleep. Apparently swimming class & then sports class 3 hours later was hard on the little guy. So we have been trying to get him to bed earlier so he can be a a semi-friendly little guy :)
Last night I woke up at 2 and could not fall asleep & I got the bright idea to make lesson plans for the next month.
So, today when the kids came in and woke me up we listened to "Head, shoulders, knees and toes" and I outlined their body & we talked about bodies. Here are their self portraits:

Kali said hers has striped pj's on.

It was fun and I plan on doing some craft/learning activity with them every morning until... sniff....sniff...my baby Kali has to go to kindergarten :(**

But for now, here's to a GREAT summer!
