Children's Museum

While Kali was at school the other day my mom and I took Kai to the Children's Museum.

He got to pick what he wanted to do without having Kali boss him around. But, he really missed her and he did not want to stay nearly as long as he does when she is with us.

But he still had fun :)

Kai LOVES to make pretend food and real food with me in the kitchen, he's our little chef.

Laundry Room Re-do part 3

Today Francis put the cabinet doors back on. He added bead board, painted them white and spray painted the hinges and handles.

We also had to replace the knobs for the washer which was nothing fun or exciting. Hopefully we'll be putting the washer & dryer back in tomorrow.

Laundry Room Re-do part 1

laundry room before

the color on the wall is a dusty gray blue

and the tile is a white ceramic that is YUCK

I painted the cabinets white (Francis will be finishing the doors with beadboard and new knobs)

The walls are Glidden Cafe Latte.

Francis tore the tile out, scrapped the floor and removed the tile edging.

and we picked out a slate tile with gray grout

Today Francis will finish tiling and grouting when he gets home from work. Then tomorrow he will install the molding and we'll move the washer/dryer back in (thank goodness because I've got laundry to do) and then we'll finish the cabinets.

What the kids have been up to

Kali started "big girl" dance this month. She is in the 6-8 yr old Jazz & 6-8 year old tap & ballet class. Her 2nd cousin Tatum is in Jazz with her and she was so excited to meet her! Kali LOVES dance. Luckily she has her classes on the same day so I stay for the 2 hours and chit chat with the other moms & my cousin.

Kali also LOVES her new school. I am SO glad that I changed schools for her because the school is very safe, tons of parents are involved and her teacher is great. We went to the meet the teacher night this week and she said Kali is a good example to the other kids and she's doing really well with the school work. We even got to see her work on the "Good Work" board. Way to go Kali!!

The kids have been playing together a lot after Kali gets home from school. He really misses her during the day and always asks when she is coming home. We got a book about a little cloud at the library and made clouds out of shaving cream and Elmer's glue.

Since Francis and I have been working on the house we have to keep them busy or else they want to "help".....yeah right!

When Kali is at school Kai like to watch "Jake and the Neverland Pirates"--his FAVORITE show. Dressing up like a pirate or a knight or Spiderman is also a daily occurrence.

We work on writing his name and learning the alphabet, shapes, colors and numbers. He is going to start a preschool class at the community center in 2 weeks.

Oh and he is still in soccer but mainly spends the hour doing this. (this is Francis bribing him with a trip to Target--ha!)

and very, very little of this.

But he looks soooo darn cute in his little uniform :) Oh well...at least he gave it a try.

Kai's room

We finished Kai's room! Here's what we did

-painted the walls white & one light blue

-added molding & painted it white

-built a pirate ship sail

-got a new curtain rod and changed out the nobs

-installed pergo flooring

added wooden pirate decor to his hanging shelf

Now his room looks nice & clean.....for the next 5 minutes and then it will be a mess again :)

Next up for us is our laundry room remodel.

Bathroom fix up

This is our bathroom before:

Francis took out the tile and had a hard time removing all of the thin set. After almost cutting off his toe and 8 hours of back breaking labor he finally got the floor ready to tile.

We found a really pretty marble at Home Depot.

Francis laid the tile & grouted it.

He painted and installed new molding and installed the toilet.

He also spray painted the hinges and handles on the door.

And BAM! Our new and improved bathroom!

Earrings

Kali has had a GREAT first week at her new school. So when she asked if she could get her ears pierced we said yes :) Here she is the day before.

And after we got home from the mall. She picked Hello Kitty earrings and only cried for about 5 seconds after the first side. I was a little worried she would not want the other side done but she was brave.

This pretty gal is growing up so fast and we sure are proud of her.
